It's been a while since I have updated everyone. Things have been happening. The Holy Spirit has been busy in our life. After preaching at a local church for 4 weeks straight, I was asked to fill in at another church in Cortez, PA. April 10th, 2005 I was to preach in this church that had been without a pastor since the end of January. There had been a number of others who had preached there during the 3 or 4 months prior. Just a few days before delivering my sermon, I was informed that the District Superintendent would be there and that the church was going to decide on a new pastor that morning right after worship service.
April 10th, my wife and I entered the church and were warmly welcomed. There was an instant bond between the congregation and us. I finished the worship service and quickly left so that the committee could meet with the District Superintendent. We went home and waited. We waited through Sunday and Monday and Tuesday. Finally I couldn't wait any longer and called the DS to see if anything was happening. I was told that the people had decided who they wanted and that I was to meet with the SPPR Committee the following Monday and to do the worship service that coming Sunday. That was the beginning of my new assignment as lay supply at this wonderful church (Cortez United Methodist Church). I am blessed to be able to be part of this eager and Spiritual flock.
