Art Yetter       My Calling
It would not be out of line to say that my                                                                       calling to ministry started shortly after birth                                                        (perhaps even during birth).  It has always been my Mother's wish                              that I become a pastor.   It was OK if I wanted to be a doctor or a lawyer                  or an Indian Chief, but her secret wish was that I become a pastor.  I became aware of this wish during early childhood, but never really gave it much consideration.
My preschool education included reading the Bible and I was quite proficient at reading and understanding most of the Bible by the age of 5.  Mom was very diligent.

There were a number of times during my adult life that I got that "urge" to investigate the possibility of becoming a pastor, but things would always get in the way. . . Not enough time; Couldn't make enough money to survive; Other, more pressing things to take care of; I probably wouldn't be any good at it; etc., etc.

Then about 12 years ago or so, the urges got a little stronger as my wife and I became more involved in our church.  Our new pastor encouraged my wife and I to go on "The Walk To Emmaus".  It was during this retreat weekend that I re-dedicated myself to the Lord.  I thought I could appease the Lord by doing more 'works' in the church; by becoming more involved.  But He was not satisfied, and looking back, neither was I.

About 6 years ago, the Lord got tired of waiting for me.  He set into motion a whole series of events that would take away any and every excuse I ever had or would ever think of for not entering into ministry.  My urges became overwhelming.  I was left no choice.  I approached my pastor and asked what I needed to do.  He was still pretty new to this stuff, but made some inquiries and we began my journey together.
